AFRICA-ISRAEL MEDIA NETWORK,(AIMEN)

Africa-Israel relations date back to thousands of years with the Bible recounting the strong bond between the two sides. This is evident in the Israeli government’s foreign policy of bolstering closer ties with the continent, which has given great impetus to normalization efforts with 40 countries in Africa.

Also, the spike in antisemitism, which according to the Diaspora Ministry in Israel, the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency has risen six fold or 235 percent after the October 7, 2023 attacks  shows that the time has come for friends of Israel in Africa to rally round the Star of David.

The role of the media in the surge of antisemitism cannot be overlooked and this calls for concerted effort by the media in Africa not to be bystanders but to put the facts and truth in perspective about happenings in the Middle East.

This development needs to be given the needed push through the media in Africa and their counterparts in Israel. Similarly, the inadequate publicity of the historical and socioeconomic relationships between Africa and Israel has largely contributed to the misinformation about what the nation of Israel stands for when it comes to Africa. Mindful of this, Africa-Israel Media Network, AIMEN seeks to bridge this all important gap, bolster the good relationships between the continent and Israel through accurate reportage, advocacy, exchanges between relevant media organizations between the two sides.
